Waiting on the Lord: Trusting God’s Timing
Introduction: Waiting on the Lord can be one of the most challenging aspects of the Christian walk. In a world that values instant results and quick fixes, the idea of waiting patiently on God’s timing may seem difficult. Yet, the Bible encourages us to trust in God’s perfect timing and to remain faithful, even in seasons of waiting. Isaiah 40:31 reminds us, “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Why Waiting on the Lord is Important: When we wait on the Lord, we demonstrate our trust in His plan and timing. It’s a powerful act of surrendering our desires to Him, allowing His wisdom to guide our steps. Waiting gives God the space to work in us, refining our character and strengthening our faith. Psalms 27:14 encourages us, “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
The Benefits of Waiting: While waiting can feel uncomfortable, it also brings many blessings. In times of waiting, we develop patience, learn to rely on God more fully, and experience peace that transcends understanding. Romans 8:25 reminds us, “But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.”
How to Wait with Faith: Waiting on the Lord does not mean being idle. It’s an active process of trusting, praying, and seeking God’s will. In moments of waiting, we are called to stay engaged with our faith, continue in prayer, and live out God’s purpose for us. Instead of growing frustrated or anxious, we can choose to focus on God’s promises, knowing that He is working behind the scenes for our good.
Conclusion: Waiting on the Lord is a practice of trust, patience, and surrender. While it may not always be easy, it strengthens our faith and prepares us for what God has in store. Trust in His timing, knowing that His plans for you are good, and He will never leave you nor forsake you.

WAIT ON THE LORD
In the scriptures, the word wait means to hope, to anticipate, and to trust. To hope and trust in the Lord requires faith, patience, humility, meekness, long-suffering, keeping the commandments, and enduring to the end. To wait upon the Lord means planting the seed of faith and nourishing it .
It means praying as the Savior did—to God, our Heavenly Father—saying: “Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done” (Matthew 6:10; Luke 11:2). It is a prayer we offer with our whole souls in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Waiting upon the Lord means pondering in our hearts and “receiving] the Holy Ghost” so that we can know “ those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31
Waiting upon the Lord means to “stand fast” (Alma 45:17) and “press forward” in faith, “having a perfect brightness of hope” (2 Nephi 31:20).
It means “relying alone upon the merits of Christ” and “with [His] grace assisting [us, saying]: Thy will be done, O Lord, and not ours”.
